++ lovely

My name is Celine. In ten years I will be a nomadic novelist UX-enthusiast greeting-card designer extraordinaire, or maybe just your ordinary hardcore typography geek. Right now I'm just another college kid.

Factoid: I like writing extraneous ümlauts on whiteboards. When yoü do this in a mythology classroom people get confüsed all over the place.

Factoid: I have very strong opinions about the design of online forms. Some kids check out people. I check out websites.

Factoid: I am not a fan of Keats.
I answer questions pertaining to ampersands. And other stuff too, I guess.

> implying I can even register for typography classes
…but an understanding of type adds a fascinating layer of understanding to a text-based world. You start seeing type set at large as the space between the letters, not just the forms (and the contained semantic meaning) represented. For body text—there’s this concept of the “blackness” of a page, of how dense the ink is and how it interacts with the space around it. You begin to appreciate subtle topographic (because ink density denotes certain things about hierarchy and importance) qualities of the concentration of ink.
A deep understanding of type is a deep understanding of visual space.
